Local historian Jim Ehrenberger relives one of Wyoming’s harshest winters with his presentation, "The Blizzard of the Century," this month’s Wyoming State Museum lecture, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Remembered by many as the "Blizzard of ’49," Ehrenberger examines the winter season beginning in November 1948. The famous blizzard that happened several months later left thousands of livestock dead and people stranded throughout the state. President Harry S. Truman called the storm a "national emergency." Using historic photographs, Ehrenberger vividly describes the extent of the storm and the relief efforts that followed.
