Wyoming photos just what "Doc" ordered
Daniel "Doc" Thissen of Laramie is the latest addition to the Wyoming Arts Council's Artist Image Registry (AIR). Doc spends a lot of time traveling the roads and back-country of Wyoming "seeking unusual photographic opportunities." He took the above photo of Lake Marie in the Snowy Range just at sunrise. Although Lake Marie may be one of the most photographed spots in the state, what makes this shot different, Doc says, is the stillness of the lake in a spot notorious for its constant wind. This photo earned Doc first place in the "waterscapes" category of the 2007 photography contest sponsored by the Albany County Tourism Board. The Laramie Chamber of Commerce used "Lake Marie Sunrise" on the cover of its 2008 guidebook. Doc runs his own photo studio in Laramie. For more info, go to http://www.docspix.com/.
