The Emerson String Quartet will perform Thursday, Oct. 23, for the eighth time in the University of Wyoming Cultural Programs' concert series.
That'll make one concert for each of the ensemble's eight Grammy Awards.
The quartet, which made its debut at UW in the 1970s, shortly after the release of its first album, will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center concert hall in Laramie. Tickets for the third of five fall concerts cost $20 for adults and $17 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available by calling the Fine Arts Center box office at (307) 766-6666 or at the Web site www.uwyoedu/finearts.
"There are so many fine string quartets around these days that we don't like to think in terms of ‘best' or ‘greatest,'" says Cedric Reverand, UW Cultural Programs director. "So, we'll just say this about Emerson: There is no finer string quartet in the world."
