Artists producing innovative work in book arts, electronic/digital media (video, sound, animation, etc.), installation art, photography and printmaking are encouraged to apply for Kala Fellowships, Berkeley, Calif. Applicants will be judged on conceptual creativity, originality and artistic excellence as well as technical knowledge.
Nine artists will each receive a Fellowship consisting of:
$3,000 cash award
Up to six consecutive months of studio residency at Kala Art Institute
24/7 access to Kala’s studio (Individual studio space may be also available depending on artists' projects and schedules.)
Exhibition of artwork created during the residency in a group show at the Kala Gallery
The Fellowship Competition is juried by a Kala jurying panel including an outside Bay Area arts professional. Kala is pleased to announce that Larry Rinder, Director of Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archives, will be our guest Fellowship juror for this year.
The Fellowship does not include housing.
