The Poetry Box, a public art installation in Jackson , welcomes poets of all ages and experiences to submit a poem to be featured in the box.
The Poetry Box is an artist-made wooden and glass box stationed outside Valley Bookstore in Jackson . Each week, a new poem is featured, with preference given to local and regional poets.
“We welcome submissions from everyone,” Poetry Box coordinator Meg Daly said. “The idea is to create a community forum for sharing poems. Some people may write poetry in private but feel shy about sending it out to literary journals. This is a forum where every poem is welcome.”
A project of the Jackson Hole Art Initiative, the Poetry Box was designed by Jackson artist John Frechette. The box features the message, “Free Poem, Take One!” to entice passers-by to reach in the box and take a free poem with them.
Please send all submissions to jhpoetrybox@gmail.com. Include a one-sentence bio about yourself, including your place of residence.
