Creative Capital is the only national grantmaking and artist service organization for individual artists with an open application process.

Our selection process includes three steps: inquiry, application and panel review.

To be eligible to apply, an artist must be:

• A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident

• At least 25 years old

• A working artist with at least five years of professional experience

Prior to the grant deadline, our grantmaking staff hold information sessions to answer applicants’ questions. In addition, we are available for questions and advice throughout the application process. See work by local artists at library in Pinedale

One of the works by local artists installed by artists and arts teacher David Klaren in the main hallway of the Sublette County Public Library in celebration of the Wyoming Arts Council board meeting. This 20x26-inch painting is entitled "Shiner of 1964" and is by Sue Sommers. Here are a few words from Sue:

This group of watercolor/gouache portraits is inspired by images from my family photo album. All of the children pictured would now be at least 50 years old. They are my family, myself, friends, and classmates, and I am looking back at them across time.

The exhibit features work by painter/illustrator David Klaren, painter Cristy Anspach, painter Sue Sommers and metal artist JB Bond.

Request for public art proposals: New Casper College Gateway Building

From the Casper College Art Department:

Qualifications and a letter of interest are requested from artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific art for the new Gateway Building, an academic classroom and administration facility on the campus of Casper College in Casper. The selection committee sees this building as a dynamic expression of Casper College as a modern, forward-looking leader of an energetic city looking to the future. We are not looking for artwork with a theme, but would like vivid and exciting work that will stimulate and inspire the students and other users of the building. $85,000 is available for all related expenses of this public art. NIC wins accreditation from American Association of Museums

The Nicolaysen Art Museum & Discovery Center became one of six museums in Wyoming to be accredited by the American Association of Museums.

The museum's executive director, Holly Turner, made the announcement at a press conference Friday morning to the applause of Nic staffers, volunteers and board members.

The museum, normally closed on Mondays, will be open Aug. 31 from noon until 7 p.m. for free to anyone wishing to partake in the accreditation celebration.

New exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Fort Collins

Breath & Language, an exhibit featuring Jennie Kiessling Michler and Camellia El-Antably, opens July 3 from 6-9 in Fort Collins at Valhall Arts, http://www.valhallarts.com/, on the Plaza Level of the Fort Collins MOCA (enter from the door on the northwest corner of the building). It features new artwork by both artists along with two collaborative pieces which were done on the walls of the gallery. Artist Camellia El-Antably says, "I am delighted to share my new work, and the
new connections Jennie and I are finding every time we work together between our work. "
