Jon Lodge featured in NWC exhibit

From Renee Claire Tafoya, Division of Visual and Performing Arts, Northwest College in Powell:

You're invited to an exhibition featuring the work of Jon Lodge from Oct. 23-Nov. 16, Northwest Gallery, Cabre Building on the NWC campus. A public reception for the artist will be held in the gallery from 7:30-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

A multi-talented artist and musician, Lodge typically composes from a central concept by systematically following a careful plan of execution. An admirer of Miles Davis, Donald Judd, Andy Warhol, Richard Serra, John Cage, John Coltrane, Antoni Tapes, Cy Twombly and Robert Ryman, he appropriates freely from the past in pursuit of new materials and ideas. The idea of deliberately distancing the artist from the creative equation tends to bypass any form of literal representation, while also producing a higher probability for expressions of pure randomness.
