New roster artist: Sue Wallis

Sue Wallis, a poetry performer from Recluse in Campbell County, is a new member of the Wyoming Arts Council artists' roster.

Currently serving as a Wyoming Legislator for House District 52, Sue and her husband Rod McQueary (also a WAC roster artist) operate the Wallis Ranch in northeastern Wyoming. Sue performs poetry recitations, and has taught writing workshops to adults and youths of all ages, and for several years has taught at Gillette’s Advocacy for Visual Art (AVA) for their “Leadership for Girls” summer program. In 1994, Sue was commissioned for poetry that reflected the spirit of the West. Her six poems were set to a symphonic score, Sagebrush Suite, which was performed at the cowboy gathering in Elko, Nevada. In 2005, this work was transformed into a ballet, and Sue again recited her poetry for the performance.
