Call for entries: Children's/YA manuscripts

From a press release:

The deadline for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators call for manuscript submissions has been extended to July 9, 2007. If you are seeking an opportunity to get your children's or young adult work in front of an editor or agent, please visit our website. Writers can submit a portion of their manuscripts to be evaluated by a panel of experienced authors. The panel will recommend the best submissions for editorial critique with one of the editors in attendance. Those not chosen will receive a written critique from a published author from the panel. The cost for the manuscript critique is $40 for SCBWI members and $55 for non-members and requires conference registration.

This conference is the largest event in the area dedicated to the children and young adult publishing industry. The Rocky Mountain Chapter of SCBWI is hosting its conference Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9 at the Holiday Inn-DIA in Denver. SCBWI is proud to announce this years lineup of editors and agents: Meredith Mundy Wasinger, senior acquiring editor from Sterling Publishing; Martha Mihalick, assistant editor at Greenwillow; and Theresa Howell, managing editor specializing in picture books at Rising Moon and Luna Rising.

Additionally, Andrea Brown, president of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency, Inc. in NYC whose agency has sold over 1,500 titles, will be on hand for individual manuscript pitch sessions. These appointments are free and will be given out on a first-come priority with your registration.

The early bird registration cost for the conference is $199 for SCBWI members and $230 for non-members. This rate expires July 15.
