Ricki Klages, head of the University of Wyoming art department and winner of a 2008 WAC visual arts fellowship, will serve as the judge for the West Nebraska Arts Center President’s Show in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. The theme this year is “Water.”
Open to artists 18 years and older. Artists must be able to hand-deliver their artwork to the West Nebraska Arts Center. Artists must also be able to remove their unsold artwork after the exhibition by 5 p.m. on July 31, 2008. WNAC will not handle shipping for this exhibition.
The competition is open to all 2-D and 3-D original artwork dealing with the “Water” theme (limit two entries per artist.) 2-D work must be framed with wire back (no sawtooth hooks), and must not exceed 4’ (including frame) in any direction. 3-D work must fit through a standard doorway and weigh less than 75 lbs. All artwork in the exhibition must be identified with two identification tags (one on the front, one on the back) with the following information: artist, title, medium (please be as specific as possible with all media used), year completed, and price (or nfs). Artwork must not have shown previously in our gallery.
Entries can be delivered (with $15 entry fee; $20 for two) on June 27 or 28 to the WNAC, 106 E. 18th St., Scottsbluff. The show will open on July 3 and continue through July 25.
The judge will award a $200 best-of-show, $100 Towater Award, and two $50 honorable mentions. President’s Choice and People’s Choice awards will also be given.
