"Swing for Life" Jan. 18 features swing dance lessons and music by the UW Jazz Ensembles

This University of Wyoming event popped up on Facebook today:
Friday Night Fever is partnering with the Jazz Advocates of Wyoming, the Swing Dance Club, and ASUW to bring a Swing for Life event on Jan. 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. 
There will be swing dancing lessons provided by the Swing Club and live ‘20s style swing music provided by the University of Wyoming Jazz ensembles. Free food will also be available at the event. The Jazz Advocates of Wyoming and the Swing Dance Club plan to give any optional donations collected at the event to I Love Life and The American Cancer Research Fund organizations.

Delta Sonics perform at Plains Hotel April 29

The Delta Sonics, a blues band from Denver, will perform in the grand ballroom of the Historic Plains Hotel in downtown Cheyenne on Friday, April 29, 8 p.m. Advance tickets $10 at Phoenix Books and Music, 1612 Capitol Ave. Tickets at the door will be $12. FMI: 307-632-3476

"Cajun Boil and Concert" May 20 at Old West Museum

The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum presents “Cajun Boil and Concert” on Friday May 20.

Call for applications: UW's Friday Night Fever Battle of the Bands competition

UW announces an opportunity for local bands to win $1,500 during Friday Night Fever's 2011 Battle of the Bands competition at 8 p.m. Friday, April 15.
Applications will be accepted no later than 5 p.m. Friday, March 25, by e-mail at fnf@uwyo.edu or by mail to Friday Night Fever, Dept. 3625, 1000 E. University Ave. Laramie, WY 82071. All bands are required to submit an MP3 or musical CD demo and stage plot along with the application.
A total of six bands will be selected to compete at the Battle of the Bands 2011 for a chance to win the $1,500 grand prize. A panel of three individuals will judge the competition. Band members wanting to enter do not have to be University of Wyoming students.
